CARRAPATEIRA AND SURROUNDINGS

We recommend to have a stroll through the ancient seaport Lagos, or the bigger fishermen’s city Portimao. Interesting is also a visit to the old fort in Sargres, as well as the close by Cabo St. Vincente, the most southwesterly point of Europe. It can call it’s biggest, still working lighthouse, its own.

An outing to ‘Sierra de Monchique’ and its ‘Foia’, the highest mountain within the area, is highly recommendable. It is not only ideal for hiking, but also the best place to go to and order piri-piri chicken, a speciality of the Algarve.

There’s also regular festive markets, as well as plenty of other activities to be found all around.
